Queen of Hills Darjeeling
Famous as the 'Queen of Hills', Darjeeling is one of the most visited tourist spots in Eastern India. The town and sub-division of Darjeeling lies under the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. Situated in the lower hills and foothills of Eastern Himalaya, the district faces Nepal to the west, Indian state of Bihar and West Bengal district Uttar Dinajpur in the south, Bangladesh in the south-east, West Bengal district Jalpaiguri in the east, Bhutan in the north-east and Indian state Sikkim in the north.

Places to visit in Darjeeling

Anyone who travels to Darjeeling doesn’t forget to have a joy-ride in the toy-train. When the train passes a round track around the garden surrounding War Memorial, the garden in one side and the stunning landscape scenario in other side amaze people. This place is famously known as Batasia Loop.
Chunnu Summer Fall
There is a waterfall nearby Darjeeling town which is pleasantly beautiful during the summer time of the year. Hence it is named as Chunnu Summer Fall. The Rock Garden surrounding the fall contains various species of pretty flowers is a favourite spot for picnic or hangout.
Standing on the Tiger Hill and watching the sunrise through the wavy mountainous landscape cannot be explained in words. Besides, when the light of the morning sun is reflected on Mt Kanchenjunga, you can’t help but drop your jaws watching such a beauty of the universe.
Also called the Mirik Lake, this water body of Darjeeling is a man-made lake. The encompassing place is a quiet and peaceful location that is adored by people. They keep returning here and pay their time. Horse-riding and boating is organized here for tourists.
Happy Valley Tea Garden
Happy Valley Tea Estate has a tea garden that offers a wide green view of tea cultivation. Tourists can also go for observing the whole tea production.
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute
The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is a pioneer to establish the outdoor activity like mountaineering as a respected sport. The museum within this institute, Everest Museum, holds the memories, photographs and mountaineering equipments of brave climbers.
The Mahakal Mandir of Darjeeling is situated in the Observatory Hill. Here, the Mahakal, one of the many forms of Lord Shiva, is worshipped with immense devotion. Along with religious importance, the view from this place is exquisite and serene.
Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park
This is a famous zoo in Darjeeling, covering an area of 68 acres. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is famous for breeding of snow-leopard along with red panda, mountain goats, salamander, Himalayan wolf and some other endangered animals and birds.
This transport facility near Kalimpong is built over the river Relli and Teesta. It was built by Christian missionaries to establish a communication between main highway of NH31A and Lepcha villages in Suruk-Samthar and Yang-Mahakum. It spans almost 1.5 km over rivers and hangs more than 30 metres of height.
