Bhutan the Dragon Land
The eighth happiest country of the world, Bhutan, is a landlocked peaceful country of South Asia. Surrounded by Tibet in the north and India in the east, west and south, this country stands as a symbol of world peace. The people here live a simple life with a touch of spiritualism that floats in the air and is mixed in the soil of Bhutan, although their determination, courage and strength are like a dragon. Hence this country in the lap of Himalayan Mountains is called the ‘land of thunder dragon’.

Places to visit in Bhutan
Thimphu valley contains the area of and around the town of Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. It is also the seat for the Govt of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Apart from large hills and huge mountains around the valley, there are places to visit like Tashicho Dzong, Drukgyal Dzong, Gangteng Monastery and Tango Monastery, which make this place one of the prime Buddhist pilgrimage.
The town of Paro has the only international airport of Bhutan. Besides, this town within serene landscape, locating beside Paro River, is architecturally and historically very significant place of Bhutan with locations like Taktsang Dzong, Rinpung Dzong, Kiyechu Lhakhang etc.
In the confluence of Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu, meaning the Mother River and Father River respectively in Punakha valley, there is a dzong named Punakha Dzong which has a significant role in the history of Bhutan. It was the seat of Bhutanese Govt until 1955.
The Haa valley is regarded as one of the most isolated places of Bhutan, although it is an astoundingly beautiful place for tourism. It is situated beside the River Haa. The unspoiled beauties of nature, Haa Dzong, Kyerchu Temple etc are must visiting locations during Bhutan trip.
Dochu La Pass
This is a mountain pass between the valleys of Thimphu and Punakha. Dochu La Pass is located at 3100 meters altitude and provides gorgeous view of surrounding valleys and mountains of Himalayas. One can watch here the 108 chortens named Druk Wangyal Chortens beside the temple Druk Wangyal Lhakhang.
The Chokhor Raptse Dzong in Trongsa valley with 200 monks is situated in a steep ridge and can take you back to 16th century. The town of Trongsa offers magnificent view surrounding the area and exotic locations in Bhutan to visit.
